ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM
The PBRI Symposium, a showcase of plant biosecurity research, development, and extension (RD&E), was held at the Cairns Convention Centre on 8 & 9 May 2024.

The PBRI members, including seven plant Research and Development Corporations and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, support Australian plant industries, worth $43.8 billion, by prioritising and investing in high impact biosecurity research together. The PBRI provides a collaboration platform to coordinate RD&E investment with cross – industry impact.
The Symposium highlighted this research from PBRI’s $69.4 million of coordinated investment in plant biosecurity.
Industries featured in the program and supported by PBRI inclulded horticulture, forest plantations, grains, wine, sugarcane, cotton, and new and emerging plant industries.
The program reflected PBRI’s valued partnerships with Plant Health Australia, Better Border Biosecurity (B3) New Zealand, Euphresco, ACIAR and the Australian Plant Health Committee.
