About PBRI 2026 Symposium

The PBRI Symposium, a showcase of plant biosecurity research, development, and extension (RD&E), is being held at the State Library of Victoria, Melbourne on 12 & 13 May 2026.


The PBRI is a collaboration between Australia’s seven plant RDCs and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Its specific focus is coordinating plant biosecurity research.

The 2026 PBRI Symposium will showcase the following key areas:

  • preparedness

  • diagnostics

  • surveillance

  • sustainable pest management

  • capability building

Industries featured in the program and supported by PBRI will include horticulture, forest plantations, grains, wine, sugarcane, cotton, and new and emerging plant industries.

The program will reflect PBRI’s valued partnerships with Plant Health Australia, Better Border Biosecurity (B3) New Zealand, Euphresco, ACIAR and the Australian Plant Health Committee.

A dedicated session on future plant biosecurity leaders will include presentations and posters from up-and-coming leaders studying or working in the field of biosecurity.

  • Full registration (from March 1, 2026): $695
