This full day field trip provides an on Country learning experience focused on Cultural Burning at Bare Hill. Participants will travel from Cairns in the morning to observe and learn about a Cultural Burn led by Traditional Owners the Buluwai Rangers, alongside Tagalaka man Victor Steffensen - Lead Cultural Fire Practitioner at Firesticks, author of Fire Country, and a nationally recognised advocate for cultural land management who works with community to support the renewal of Indigenous fire knowledge. The day offers an opportunity to gain insight into Cultural Fire management practices and how Indigenous knowledge systems are applied to care for Country, with learning grounded in on‑Country experience and guided by those actively involved in the planning and delivery of the burn.
