BARB i-Tree Canopy assessment of the economic benefits our trees provide.

BGANZ 2025 Abstract

BARB Convenor, Ian Allan will present the findings of the rapid canopy assessment BGANZ Member Gardens carried out using i-Tree Canopy to quantify some of the economic benefits our trees provide. How many millions of dollars’ worth of carbon are sequestered in our trees? Come and find out!
Tools such as the suite of i-Tree software, enable contemporary arborists and tree managers to quantify some of the benefits our tree collections provide, and to view our trees as an appreciating asset that can be valued in monetary terms.
This speed talk will provide participants of the BARB workshop with an insight into the dollar value of our trees and concepts that can inform how we engage the public and stakeholders to help protect our tree collections.
